Our Mission
Since 1938 the Diamond Lake Yacht Club has been home to sailors and families from on and around the lake. We are dedicated to sailing, youth development, lake preservation, water safety, and social life.
Sailing
Sailing and sailboat racing remain a key attraction to today's members. The years have seen fleets come and go consistent with regional or national trends. MCs, Snipes, Thistles, Hobie Cats, M16s, and Nationals have all been raced here. Many of the sailors of today remember learning to sail on a Nipper, Sailfish, or Sunfish. It doesn't matter which class of boat, the spirit of good sportsmanship and friendly competition is still as strong today as it was in years past.
Youth Development
Like any organization that aims to sustain itself, DLYC recognizes that its young people are its greatest asset. The sailing program and the junior racing schedule have produced young sailors who have distinguished themselves in many national competitions.
Water Safety and Lake Preservation
Many years ago DLYC members recognized the importance of safety on the water and the need to preserve our precious natural resource. The Club and its members have been in the forefront of many important Diamond Lake initiatives including water safety, sewers, the need to protect our wetlands, the formation and support of a Diamond Lake Association, the fight to prevent construction of a land causeway to the island, and much more. In short, the Diamond Lake Yacht Club is a strong and responsible member of the Diamond Lake/Cassopolis community.
Social
Many of today's members don't sail, yet they see DLYC as the perfect place to meet and socialize with old and new Diamond Lake friends and neighbors. During the summer, from the opening Pancake Breakfast to the closing Labor Day weekend Hog Roast barbeque, there is a full schedule of social events to appeal to the entire family.
Since 1938, the Diamond Lake Yacht Club has grown in membership and stature. T
he Diamond Lake Yacht Club creates a wonderful sense of community for all the Diamond Lake residents.
All Diamond Lake residents can take pride in the DLYC and are encouraged to become members.
